Enjoy a short flight to Rifle, Colorado (KRIL) and shuttle to neighboring Glenwood Springs for two days of adventure, fun and relaxation with friends. Choose to ride the gondola to the top of Iron Mountain for a cave tour and/or high adrenaline thrill rides at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, TripAdvisor’s “Traveler’s Choice” for 2020. Raft the rapids of scenic Colorado River through beautiful Glenwood Canyon. Take an evening stroll through town and watch the sunset from the hot springs.
Morning: We will arrive in Rifle, CO (KRIL) prior to 10:30 a.m. where we will pick up rental cars for the 30-minute drive to Glenwood. We will drop our bags at our hotel before heading out for lunch.
After Lunch: Choose to relax in town, take a soak in one (or both) of the world renowned hot springs resorts, or head up Iron Mountain for tours of King’s Row and Fairy Caves inside Iron Mountain at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
Happy Hour: Gather on the back deck of our hotel from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. BYOB and a snack to share.
Dinner: Depart the hotel for a group dinner at 6:30 p.m. at a local restaurant.
Morning: Complimentary breakfast is available at the hotel beginning at 6 a.m. We will depart for the raft trip at 10 a.m. – Sharp! Our white water adventure begins at 10:15 a.m. at Glenwood Adventure Company with orientation and gear fitting before embarking to the put-in site. If rafting is not your thing you may opt to spend the day in town or visit the hot springs.
Lunch: On your own following our return from rafting.
Happy Hour/Dinner: Meet up again on the back deck of the hotel at 5 p.m. to swap adventure stories before heading out to dinner on your own. Don’t forget to BYOB.
Sunday June 26th:
Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel before shuttling back to Rifle for your return flight home. Departure times will be coordinated with each driver.
General Information: Attendees are responsible for reserving and paying for their own hotel room, bringing a beverage and snack for the happy hours. A group dinner is planned for Friday evening; however, Saturday dinner is on your own. It is recommended to make dinner reservations in advance for Saturday evening if you have a specific restaurant in mind.
Accommodations: A block of 15 rooms has been held at the Quality Inn & Suites on the River, 2650 Gilstrap Court, Glenwood Springs, CO, 81601. These rooms are non-smoking and have 2-queen beds at a cost of approximately $140 per night plus tax. The room rate includes a complimentary breakfast. Call the Quality Inn & Suites on the River at 970-945-5995 by June 16th and be sure to tell them you are with the Colorado Pilots Association for the special group rate. Any rooms not reserved by June 17th will be released. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 48 hours prior to 3 p.m. on the check-in date to avoid the first night’s charge.
Costs: All meals, room charges, park/resort entrance fees, and other incidentals are the responsibility of participants. The rental cars (and gas) are $55 per person and the raft trip is $80 per person. Please include check payable to Colorado Pilots Association upon registration.
