Join your Colorado Pilots Association friends for a short flight to Alliance, NE for a relaxing time in rural America while visiting the main attractions in town. Of course, the trip would not be complete without seeing Carhenge if it hasn’t been crossed off your bucket list yet!

Saturday, September 16

Arrive at Alliance Municipal (KAIA), (166 nm from BJC), by 10:00 a.m. Following brunch at a local diner we’ll visit the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center to get a historical perspective of the area and learn some interesting facts about the Ogallala aquifer. From there we’ll step back in time and visit Dobby’s Frontier Town during their Fall Festival. A short trip out of town to see Carhenge is a must for those who haven’t already had a chance to see it before returning to the hotel for the usual happy hour at 4:30. Your host will provide an assortment of brews from Brewery 719, named after the steam locomotive on display in town. After dinner at a local Mexican restaurant (sorry, no steak houses in this small NE town) will be free time, but some may want to enjoy a relaxing walk through the city park.

Sunday, September 17

Departure for the airport will be coordinated with your drivers. Breakfast will be available at the hotel or the local diner if desired on the way back to the airport.

Lodging: A block of 8 rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express. Call 308-761-0970 before September 9 and select the front desk option. Explicitly request one of the room reservations to be transferred from Brent Rognlie to your name. The room rate is $129. Cancellations can be made without charge up until 6 p.m. Friday, September 15.

Registration Fee: $33 per person for rental cars and fuel.
