CPA Presents: Density Altitude: Estimating its Effects (and a Software Tool)
About this event
Mr. Jim Greer will discuss the effects of density altitude, some common methods for estimating its impact on performance, and an educational software tool he developed to compare some of these methods, including automating the venerable Koch Chart.
Jim's most recent job was as a Mechanical Engineering professor at the Air Force Academy, where he was also the Technical Director of the Center for Aircraft Structural Life Extension (CAStLE). He spent nearly 40 years in and around the Air Force as a military officer, contractor, and civilian employee. Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida. His Master’s and PhD in Aeronautical Engineering are from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He holds a commercial pilot certificate with instrument and multi-engine ratings, as well as Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor certificates.
