The Society began its operations in 1967.

Colorado Airport Operators Association
Established in 1982, the Colorado Airport Operators Association (CAOA) has served as the common interests of the owners, operators and users of the 76 public use airports located throughout the State of Colorado. CAOA provides a unified voice for airport operators to State and Federal agencies, the General Assembly and the Congress of the United States of America, on proposed or pending legislation and regulations. Runway Incursion Avoidance
Will appear as Appendix 1 as a new addition to Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge. Provides the information pilots will be tested and checked on in the Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot PTS, effective June 1, 2012, and also in the soon to be released CFI and ATP PTS's, which include a required Runway Incursion Avoidance TASK. Very comprehensive and well illustrated document related to maneuvering and ATC communications on airports. Large file size may discourage some from downloading. But worth the effort for those that do.

US Civil Airmen Statistics

Free online source of VFR and IFR charts and airport/facility directory data. Scroll around and zoom in or out on the charts. You also can choose five kinds of charts from a pulldown menu: hybrid VFR (a combination of world aeronautical charts, sectional, and terminal); VFR sectional; WAC; IFR en route high-altitude charts; and low IFR (a combination of IFR en route low-altitude charts and IFR area charts). You can’t draw a course on these charts, but the site is a quick and easy reference for a variety of uses.

Fly n' Bike
A number of years ago I saw a picture of a pilot who landed a few miles from the Grand Canyon and biked to the north rim. That inspired me to get a foldable bicycle and start my own adventures of flying and biking. After a lot of searching, I selected a 26" Montague that doubles as a great bike for daily use at home. I'm not a road biker, otherwise any airport would do. So, this page is a place to share some interesting airports that provide reasonable access to bike friendly trail systems or cities. A lot of airports are miles of country road from towns or trails. I've tried to find those with less than a mile or so of 2-lane road to deal with. Some airports offer courtesy cars that you might use for a short ride on a nearby trail. I've added highlights of what you can find on your trip at each airport. I've biked the airports with the and I expect you'll have fun with these too. If you're interested in finding bike trails, be sure to check the Bicycling layer in Google Maps. I hope my adventures encourage you to get out to fly and bike.

Today marks a true milestone in Colorado aviation safety, as our new system of Aviation Weather Cameras on our network of 13 Mountain Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) sites is NOW LIVE! Now, in addition to receiving accurate and certified aviation weather information, pilots have the ability to visually observe weather conditions high in the Colorado Rockies before they depart the airport.

This innovative effort was made possible through a partnership developed between the Colorado Division of Aeronautics and the FAA’s Alaska Weather Camera Program. The 13 new camera sites now operational in Colorado are the first in the U.S. outside of Alaska to be incorporated into the FAA weather camera network.

This innovative project, marks the third such collaboration between us and FAA, where the Division has funded FAA-completed safety improvements on our behalf. Previous reimbursable agreements with FAA include the development of Colorado's Wide Area Multi-Lateration System, and ongoing Remote Tower Project at the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL).

Angel Flight West - Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Our network of 1,400+ pilots throughout the 13 western states donate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations.

Pilots for Paws - Pilots N Paws® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our site is intended to be a meeting place for volunteers engaged in the valuable services of rescuing, sheltering and adopting animals, and volunteer pilots and plane owners willing to assist with animal transportation. The intent of Pilots N Paws is to provide an environment in which volunteers can come together and arrange or schedule rescue flights, overnight foster care or shelter, and all other related activities.
