Lake Meredith Splash-in

SUPPORT AIRPORT: La Junta Airport (LHX), All participating aircraft must land at LHX for invasive species inspection

The event is a splash-in BBQ picnic and BINGO/Accuracy Contest and is open to all.

This year we will have a BINGO contest and Accuracy "bombing", pending FAA Waiver approval.  The "bombs" are tennis balls.  Winners of the contests will receive a $100 prize.  All aircraft may participate (seaplanes and landplanes).  Participating pilots must be briefed and acknowledge the contest rules and the provisions of the associated FAA Waiver.  Anyone, pilot or spectator, is eligible to play.

For the BINGO Contest, tennis balls are $5 each, with a minimum purchase of 4 balls per contestant.  The contestant will select a pilot to drop the balls.  The contestant may fly along with the pilot only at the pilot's sole discretion.  A floating "Bingo Card" will be placed about 500 feet off-shore.  The pilot will drop 1 or more tennis balls per pass until the first winning combination is achieved or there are no more balls.  The contestant that achieves a winning combination (5-in-a-row, or 4-corners) wins $100.  There will be only one winner and if no winning combination is achieved, there will be a one-ball "fly-off" with the winner being closest to the "N" 3 square (ie, center of the Bingo Card).

The ACCURACY Contest, tennis balls are $5 each, with a minimum purchase of 4 balls.  The contestant will select a pilot to drop the balls.  The contestant may fly along with the pilot only at the pilot's sole discretion.  The BINGO floating target will be used.   The “N3” square is the bull’s eye.  The pilot will drop 1 or more balls per pass.  The contestant whose ball hits and remains in the bull’s eye wins $100.  Each contestant will receive at least one pass.  If multiple bull’s eyes are achieved, a one-ball "fly-off" with the winner being closest to the “N3” square. There will be only one winner.

If you are planning to attend and will be flying into LHX, we will arrange ground transportation.

Pilots participating in the CONTESTS, please respond by June 5, with your aircraft number.  Required information will be sent to you.
