Join 30 of your Colorado Pilot Association friends as we view what’s billed as one of the  greatest wildlife spectacles in North America.  This gathering of over 1 million Sandhill Cranes is the largest in the world and you’ll witness it from our own viewing blind with our own tour guide.  We tried this once a number of years ago but the fly-in was a victim of early spring weather and was cancelled.  We’re going to try again, and this time, succeed!

Saturday, March 18: Arrive at Kearney Regional (EAR), (Kearney Flight Services)(285 nm from BJC), by 11:00 a.m.  Chat w/ fellow CPA members en-route, air-to-air on 122.75.  Following lunch in town, we’ll visit the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument which is actually a multi-level museum spanning I-80 and tells the story of the adventurers who followed the Great Platte River Road and helped to build America.  No happy hour this trip, however, following 5:00 p.m. dinner at a local restaurant, we’ll share dessert back at the hotel.  Bring a dessert to share. 

Sunday, March 19: Cars will depart @ 5:30 a.m. to drive to the Nicolson Audubon Center at the Rowe Sanctuary for our 6:00 guided crane viewing experience which lasts until 9:00 a.m.  Bring lots of warm clothes, warm drink and munchies.  (Some will want to have late breakfast in town following our crane experience).  Departures for home later that day will be determined based on individual requests.
