December 1989 Flight Lines highlights the Colorado Pilots Association’s achievements in safety promotion and pilot advocacy, while addressing critical challenges ahead. Vice President Mark Meyer’s message emphasizes that while CPA has successfully conducted Mountain Flying Courses, safety programs, and maintained vigilant legislative monitoring, the organization has struggled with communication and membership growth. To address reduced benefits and maintain organizational strength, CPA is focused on expanding its membership base through increased visibility and outreach efforts.
The November Board of Directors meeting established new committee leadership and refined organizational priorities for the coming year. Notable new board members include Norma Faulkner Ravnsborg (Public Affairs Chair) and Dave Burke (Fly-In Events Chair), bringing fresh energy to the organization’s mission. The board passed a resolution addressing the diversion of state aviation fuel tax revenues to non-aeronautical purposes, supporting efforts to ensure these funds are used exclusively for aviation programs as mandated by the Colorado Constitution.
