The May 1992 issue of Flight Lines features President Bill Standerfer’s message focusing on general aviation safety and the dangers of pilot complacency. Drawing from a conversation with a fellow pilot who had recently lost friends to aircraft accidents, Standerfer emphasizes that overconfidence and the belief that accidents “can’t happen to me” have no place in the cockpit. He advocates for regular recurrent training, participation in FAA Wings programs, and a continuous effort to examine flying attitudes and habits to prevent accidents.

The newsletter highlights CPA’s growing recognition for its Mountain Flying Course, which was featured at a Minnesota aviation symposium in April with presentations by Vern Foster, Bill Brand, and Bill Marshall. The course continues to generate national interest in pilot safety education. Additionally, the Centennial Tower Tour and Operations Seminar held in March drew approximately 250 attendees for presentations on tower operations and airspace management.

The association also announces an important administrative change, noting that CPA has relocated to a new Post Office Box and ZIP code in preparation for the closure of the Stapleton facility when Denver’s new airport opens in 1993. Members are reminded to update their mailing addresses and membership information accordingly.
