Colorado Pilots Association's May 1998 Flight Lines newsletter highlights the organization's flagship Denver to Jackpot air race event, scheduled for July 11-12, with President Bart Jones encouraging members to participate in this popular competition that has run since 1976. The issue also features member stories celebrating the charm of small-town aviation, including a touching account of a cross-country flight stop in Maryville, Missouri, and showcases CPA member Mike Baldwin's beautifully restored 1942 Stearman aircraft at an EAA Flying Start program. Additionally, the newsletter covers Colorado aviation policy developments, including a failed Senate bill that would have provided $10 million in airport improvements and ongoing legal disputes regarding Centennial Airport's commercial air service restrictions.
