The August 1990 issue of Flight Lines highlights the Colorado Pilots Association’s growing momentum and engagement. President Vanita Gallo commends the successful July 4th Poker Fly-In, organized by Dave Burke, Fred Norton, and Frank Gallo, with special thanks to local sponsors. The organization is expanding efforts to address critical aviation issues including new TCA airspace designation around Denver, attempted Department of Energy airspace restrictions over Rocky Flats, state fuel tax diversion concerns, and federal pilot/aircraft registration proposals. The CPA is planning a full-day organizational retreat on September 22 at the Clarion Hotel at Centennial Airport to strategize on programs, activities, and advocacy efforts.

The Board of Directors continues to show strong participation and vitality, with robust agendas and growing membership involvement. Recent board actions include approval of CPA participation in Airshow Colorado on August 11-12, sponsorship of a hospitality tent, and coordination of pit pass gate staffing. The organization’s treasury shows healthy finances with a bank balance of $7,196. Critical focus areas include opposition to DOE’s proposed prohibited airspace over Jeffco Airport, response to the FAA’s generic 30 nm TCA design for the new Denver airport, and advocacy regarding peace officer treatment of pilots and FBO service restrictions.
