Colorado Pilots Association (CPA) Flight Lines – October 1985

The Colorado Pilots Association has experienced a highly active and productive year, with major advocacy efforts opposing the Stapleton landing fee for general aviation and TV/FM tower construction in the Colorado Springs-Pueblo corridor. President Vern Foster highlights numerous organizational achievements including successful tower opposition efforts in partnership with AOPA and state authorities, publication of Flight Lines, multiple fly-in events, and the inaugural CPA Convention. The organization has maintained strong engagement through regular meetings, safety programs, and community activities while building momentum for continued growth in 1986.

Key operational developments include the establishment of new and expanding aviation facilities across Colorado, with detailed reports on service improvements at airports in Buena Vista, Durango, and Salida. The Denver Flight Service Station earned notable recognition as the 1984 FSS of the Year for the FAA Northwest Mountain Region. These infrastructure expansions and facility upgrades demonstrate the active general aviation community throughout the state and the continued importance of local airport development to regional economies.
