Colorado Pilots Association’s May 2012 Flight Lines covers a range of topics from safety initiatives to major events. President Mark Brown discusses the unofficial student practice areas along the Front Range and efforts to publish this information to improve safety awareness. The newsletter also highlights the growing Rocky Mountain Light Sport Expo, which has expanded significantly and is being positioned as a major light sport aircraft gathering west of the Mississippi. Additionally, the newsletter includes a CPA Mountain Flying Course announcement and reports on Senate action limiting the FAA’s proposed chart delivery fees.
The issue also honors two members of the CPA extended family who passed away in March: Jay Warner, husband of longtime member Emily Howell Warner, and Carolyn Doubek, wife of longtime member Bob Doubek. Both were active in the aviation community and exemplified the spirit of general aviation.
