NTSB Narrative
The student pilot was landing on runway 27. After touchdown, the pilot attempted to correct the track with the addition of rudder and aileron, at which time the airplane veered to the right and departed the runway. The right main landing gear and nosewheel hit a snow and ice berm. The nosewheel separated and the left wing tip hit the ground. Substantial damage was sustained to the firewall. No preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures were reported that could have precluded normal operation. The student pilotβs failure to maintain directional control while landing.
